I'm Kaela, welcome to Sanderling Design Company! I studied fashion design and merchandising along with marketing and entrepreneurship at Kent State University. I had huge aspirations of being The next known name worn on the red carpets and runways of evening wear couture. My first job out of college was at a bridal manufacturer, and I began to realize that maybe everything I always dreamed of wasn't actually everything I wanted. Through months of self-reflection and research, Sanderling Design Company was born!

Each design is handmade with a bit of my heart and soul. The illustrations of SDC are inspired by my love of fashion, gowns especially, but are also derived from many of the other prisms of my life like books, travel, home, and love in all its forms. These things make up my life and my hope is that some of these pieces can seamlessly fit into your life; your home, your style, your travels (both real and fictional), and your special moments.

The name Sanderling is extra special for me, as it was the name of my great-grandmother's, and later my grandmother's, home in Florida. I grew up visiting that home and my loved ones all the time; it was a tropical, magical paradise for me. One of my biggest struggles with starting this company was deciding on a name, but once I decided to take up the mantle of Sanderling, everything else fell beautifully into place. I couldn't honor a more special place that was home to such special people in a greater way than to carry on the name we cherish so dearly.
